There is a need to study the Industrial Revolution because it is one of the major reasons for why our world is the way it is today. The changes within the industrial revolution had major effects in the economy, society, geography, health and culture. Students will need to establish connections about the Industrial Revolution such as why and how it occurred. In order to make these connections students will be required to access critical thinking skills and analysis of sources. Students will also need to understand how the Industrial Revolution influenced the world they now live in. It is especially important for students to understand that the effects of the events of history span multiple years and throughout the world and not just he years that it occurred. This unit in particular will have strong examples about how historical events have long term effects on our present and future.
